The Open Water Diver course is the most popular and exciting Learn To Dive program in the world. It is recognised all around the world and is valid for life so once you have discovered the underwater world you can carry on diving in amazing locations, as well as around our coastline, for ever!
So if you are a total beginner with a thirst for adventure, the Open Water program is the first step for you.
What Will You Learn?
The course consists of Knowledge Development, Confined Water training sessions and Open Water dives. It teaches you all the basic skills you need to know for diving and qualifies you to dive to a depth of 18 metres.
Learning to dive is one of the most rewarding things you'll do and we want to make sure that you get the most out of your course. We run small class sizes to ensure personal tuition and offer additional sessions and drysuit training at no extra cost.
The course is suitable for anyone aged 12 and above, in good health, reasonably fit, and comfortable in the water.
A Medical Questionnaire must be filled in prior to the first confined water session. If you answer 'yes' to any question you need to get medical clearance from your GP prior to diving.
You get full access to PADI digital materials, which explain everything you need to know about learning to dive.
Confined Water Dives
During your 5-6 Confined Water sessions in our on-site pool, you'll learn the skills necessary to dive safely and with confidence; perfecting buoyancy and learning to clear your mask of water are among the fun and exciting skills that your Instructor will teach you.
You don't have to be a strong swimmer as long as you can complete a 200-metre swim and a 10 minute tread water.
Open Water Dives
There are 4 Open Water qualifying dives, during which you will demonstrate the skills that you have learnt during your confined water sessions.
These dives are normally conducted over two days at the inland dive site of Stoney Cove and are a great weekend away to perfect your new skills. Alternatively, if you don't want to dive in the UK, you can complete these 4 dives abroad under the 'referral' option.
All our UK open water dives are carried out in drysuits which mean that you can stay dry and warm and enjoy your first dive experiences.
